Purpose:

To award a contract for the management and maintenance of parks, open spaces and cemeteries to commence from 1st April 2017.

Decision:

  1. That the Report and other background papers to this report be exempt from disclosure by virtue of the Local Government Act 1972 Schedule 12A, Part 1 paragraph 3, as amended, in that they contain information relating to the financial or business affairs of any particular person (including the authority holding that information).

 

  1. That the award of a contract for the Management and Maintenance of Parks, Open Spaces and Cemeteries be approved to the preferred bidder as specified in the report.

 

  1. That the variation of the contract specification for as set out in the report to deploy uniformed patrol staff in parks and open spaces be approved.

 

  1. That the Executive Director for City Management and Communities be delegated authority to take any necessary actions to effect completion of this contract and contract variation.

 

 

Reasons for Decision 

 

1.            Approval of the recommendations contained within this report will enable the new contract to be awarded in time for the contract commencement date (1st April 2017).

2.         In addition to delivering high standards of horticulture across the portfolio of green spaces, the award of the contract will also enable a number of areas of added value to be realised including more volunteering, apprenticeships and work experience / local employment opportunities.
