Extension of the Contract for Provision of Flexible Car Sharing Club Services and granting of waiver to increase the maximum permitted vehicles operating in the City

The contract for Provision of Flexible Car Sharing Club Services, provided by Zipcar (UK) Ltd, provides flexible car sharing vehicles for short term hire by residents and businesses as an alternative to private vehicle ownership. The vehicles are provided with a permit that allows them to park in resident, paid for and cashless parking bays in the City, so that a hire can start and end in different locations, including other participating boroughs. The proposal is to extend the contract by 2 years. As well as the extension, the granting of a waiver will allow Zipcar to increase the maximum number of vehicles they operate to 150 in the first year and 225 in the second, from the 90 they are currently allowed, assuming there are appropriate levels of demand to justify increase and the kerbside can accommodate the increased numbers
